I am an alumni from University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Minor in Nutrition. I have played various sports such as Football and Track & Field previously in high school. I was always active during my adolescence; however, diabetes and hypertension are some examples of chronic metabolic diseases that have developed in our family history.
What made exercise & fitness my passion was the influences and inspirations from my siblings. April started her focus in the health & fitness industry and observing her success thus far and her giving services to clients inspired me to begin my journey in the same field. My brother, Randy, inspired me in many ways to stay on my path. He developed Crohn’s Disease in 2012 at a period of some inactivity from exercise and poor eating habits. He followed his doctor’s suggestions and he went above & beyond expectations.
He became physically active and set records in the 400m dash at his high school in Track & Field. He focused on improving his eating habits over the same time period and with constant persistence, in the summer of 2015, his disease went into remission after his surgery. With this being said, both of my siblings inspire me to stay on my narrow path toward success as a fitness professional in the health & fitness industry and I hope to pave the path for many others.
